About Us

For nearly 150 years, Ephesus Baptist Church stood as a gospel witness in Spring Hope, North Carolina. 

In 2022, the congregation at Ephesus made a remarkable and costly decision: they gave themselves to God’s will so that something new could be born. What followed was a season of preparation, prayer, and partnership. 

In the summer of 2025, a core group of faithful members of Ephesus Baptist Church led by transition Pastor Michael McCray and his wife Gena reached out to the Baptist State Convention of NC for assistance. The convention connected Ephesus with Hephzibah Baptist Church (HBC) of Wendell, NC. Through this partnership, Stacy and Valerie Morris, along with four families from HBC joined with the former members of Ephesus to plant a new church. On November 16th, 2025, Truth Baptist Church was formed and Pastor Stacy Morris was called to serve as lead pastor/elder. Shortly after, the church affirmed Michael McCray as their second pastor/elder to ensure a multiplicity of elders. 

On Easter Sunday 2026, Truth Baptist Church (TBC) officially launched. Truth Baptist is a new church, born from the sacrifice and generosity of God’s people, planted at 7300 West Old Spring Hope Road just off Highway 64 in Nash County. TBC is situated at the crossroads of multiple communities and exists to reach Spring Hope, the surrounding region, and the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Truth Baptist is committed to making disciples, planting new churches, and participating in the mission of God both locally and around the world. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6), who is the Savior the world desperately needs. 

We believe the gospel is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16), and we intend to proclaim it faithfully, send it widely, and give ourselves to it fully.
