The gospel is good news—the good news of what God has done in Jesus Christ. The Bible depicts human beings, all human beings everywhere, as in rebellion against God, and therefore under his judgment. But although God stands over us in judgment because of our sin, he also stands for us in love—and the gospel is the good news of what God, in love, has done in Jesus Christ. Jesus bore our sin on the cross. He took the penalty we all deserve, turned aside God’s judgment, God’s wrath, from us, and cancelled our sin. The brokenness of our lives he restores and the new life that we find in Christ is granted out of the amazing grace of God. It is received by faith as we repent of our sins, turn to Jesus, confess him as Lord, and bow to him joyfully. The gospel is good news—the good news of what God has done in Jesus Christ.
Baptism is an outward expression of the inward transformation that takes place when someone trusts in Jesus Christ. It's an opportunity to publicly declare your faith and celebrate the new life God has given you.
